The Department of Haunting Affairs (DOHA) was created in the early 2000s to protect New Zealand from unusual paranormal activity. Over the years, ghosts, zombies, witches, vampires, and even mischievous clowns have appeared in unexpected places, and DOHA agents are called in whenever strange disturbances are reported.

Each Halloween, DOHA receives a surge of calls to investigate spooky sightings. This year, reports have revealed that a portal to the supernatural has opened inside The Y North Shore Recreation Centre. Ghosts, witches, zombies, vampires, and clowns have slipped through, taking over the building and turning it into their haunted hideout.

Why The Y? The land holds a mysterious past. Back in the 1950s, this site was home to a travelling circus. It brought joy to the local community until tragedy struck—a fire broke out during a summer show, and many circus workers and visitors sadly lost their lives. Locals believe some of those spirits never found peace, and their energy still lingers to this day.

That’s why DOHA has chosen The Y North Shore as its headquarters for this year’s Halloween mission. Junior agents (that’s you!) are being recruited to help fight back the haunted residents, clear the rooms, and make the centre safe again.

On Friday, 31 October, DOHA investigators will be on-site, leading families through the course and helping kids complete their missions. Along the way, you’ll encounter friendly-but-spooky characters, collect treats, and take part in the adventure to restore balance at The Y.

The safety of every family is DOHA’s top priority, and together, we’ll ensure the supernatural doesn’t stand a chance.
